Research Abstract |
Research on Formulation and characterization of microcapsules and nanocapsules has been carried out, and summarized as follows. 1.Lipid micro/nanoparticles with relatively monodisperse were successfully obtained from monodispersed oil-in-water emulsion by microchannel emulsification as well as solvent evaporation method. 2.Scale up of microchannel plate was done, and microchannel emulsification capacity was increased one magnitute from former 5ml/h productivity. 3.Monodispersed gelatin-acacia microcapsules were prepared by formation of monodispersed gelatin emulsion with the use of microchannel emulsification as well as coacervate encapsulation with the use of acacia solution. 4.CFD (Computatinal Fluid Dynamics) was applied to the analysis of droplet formation from straight-through microchannel. CFD model of circular (10 μm) and oblong (10 and 40 μm) shaped though holed microchannel was constructed and the simulation results agreed well with the experimental results. 5.New device of asymmetric straight-through microchannel has been developed ; two layers of slit and micro-hole structure, and exhibited higher droplet productivity than conventional symmetric straight-through microchannel. 6.Formulation of nanoparticles was carried out by protein-based emulsion with the use of high-pressure homogenizer, and the method of encapsulation of functional component was newly developed.
