Research Abstract |
In this research project, we make use of advanced IT and its environment to language education. Originally, we planed to develop prototype ubiquitous e-learning environment. However, due to the progress of the study, we changed to develop operational real world language e-learning system based on the teaching materials developed by Japanese Language Center of the university. We also extend the contents. As a result, we developed 1692 html pages, 20500 sound files, and 2454 image files. Further, we translated original Japanese materials into languages, such as Chinese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, and Mongolian so as to learn Japanese language by their own native language. We also developed original Learning Management System for language education including Language Laboratory feature in the Internet environment. Based on our original LMS, we can record detailed learner's activities. We hope to develop tailored language education environment. Our cooperative ubiquitous Japanese language e-learning environment, called JPLANG, started to use as a part of our university's Japanese Language Center from April, 2005.
