Research Abstract |
A fundamental systematic research was carried out to argue life in the future, standing on the global view. The main focus was on the German and French trends of bioethical idea. The trends were compared with those of the U.S.A. and Japan. With regard to the French trend, the project team translated Supplement 1 of 'Sience de la vie : de l'ethique au droit' and some reports of Comite Consultatif National d'Ethique pour les sciences de la vie et de la sante (CCNE) France into Japanese, and it also summarized some reports of the Committee. The present day French bioethical movements were discussed among us. With regard to the German trend, the project team translated In-vitro-Fertilisation, Genomanalyse und Gentherapie, in : Der Bundesministers fur Forschung und Technologie (Hrsg.) : In-vitro-Fertilisation, Genomanalyse und Gentherapie and some others into Japanese. Some philosophical papers regarding human dignity were summarized. Papers of J.Habermas, L.Honnefelder, D.Birnbacher and K.Bayerz were among them. Their philosophical ways of thinking were discussed on several occasions. In the main workshops focuses were on the embryo research and euthanasia. Embryonenschutzgesetz : ESchG, Stammzellgesetz : StZG and Les lois de bioethique were discussed. The enhancement problem was also one of the main topics of the workshops. The records of the workshops, articles of the team members and the translations and summaries were printed in two volumes of The sequel to research reports of the present day bioethical movements in Germany and France 1-2. They are expected to be distributed to Japanese researchers and the major libraries. Professor J.-F.Collange, one of the members of CCNE, was invited and gave three lectures in Tokyo and Kyoto on the French bioethics laws and euthanasia in France. The lectures and the records of the discussions were included in the Sequel.
