Research Abstract |
Made reproduction and drew up a list of main historical documents in Rikkyo Institution Archival Collection. "Proceedings of the Board of Mangers" and "Institutional Magazines" relating to Rikkyo Institution ; "Journal of President", "Journal of Secretary", and "Minutes of the Deans Committee" relating to the University ; and "Journal of Educational Instruction" relating to the Middle School. Abroad research in the National Archives of the United States and the Archives of the Episcopal Church of the USA has been done three times. Letters of missionaries, missionary magazines, and minutes/proceedings of committees of mother church that could not be found in Japan were collected. Those made us possible to analyze how the Episcopal missionaries in Japan recognize the Rikkyo Institution as well as reaction of the mother church under unusual wartime emergency. Nineteen domestic private universities in Japan were set out a questionnaire by us for investigating their situation during the war so that characteristics of Rikkyo Institution could be disclosed. Held interview with alumni including from Asian countries and made a collection of their draft recollection for investigating their school life and educational transformation under war period. Our research meetings were held fourteen times during three years in order to report the research products by individual members, discuss the substantial matters, and distribute the basic historical documents to each member. As a result, eight articles were appeared on "Journal of the History of Rikkyo University and Schools", issued annually by Rikkyo Gakuin Research Institute of History.
