Research Abstract |
In this research project we attempted to study various aspects of "memory" and its representation (documents, monument, commemoration etc.) in the context of global history. This project is an interdisciplinary collaboration. Members of the project consist not only of historians (specialists of European and Japanese history), but also of specialists of art history, modern literature, social linguistics and modern social thought Each member made an intensive investigation into the problem of "memory and its representation" in his/her own research field. Every year we held meetings and workshops for reading research papers, where we invited specialists of related field from other research institutions in Japan and abroad. Part of our research results had already been published in books and articles written by the members of our projects (see "11. References" in this abstracts).
