Research Abstract |
The present study was carried out to make a database of the dreams collected by the present head investigator in his clinical practice of dream analysis and tried to utilize the database for the further psychotherapy research First, nine major items (states of clients, stages of dream analysis, inner worlds of clients, activities and feelings, persons and existence appeared, animals, objects and places, archetypes, and engaging works in a dream) and 303 key words were selected for classifying the dreams, and then the dreams were input into the database. Next, 5 8 dreams from one middle-aged female client were picked up from the database, and the process of psychotherapy was analyzed in reference to the contents of these dreams. The analysis revealed the following twelve stages of therapy ; 1) meeting a therapist, 2) devoting themselves to the therapist, 3) being accepted the trauma with empathy by the therapist, 4) awaring the depressed unconscious feelings, 5) confronting with the control of father or mother, 6) confronting with the shadow in themselves, 7) experiencing the death, 8) getting over the death, 9) finding the inner self-healing power, 10) realizing the limits as a human being, 11) realizing the power of the transcending existence, and 12) finding the original story of themselves. It was also pointed out that synchronizing the inner experiences of the clients with those of the therapists contributed the development of the therapy.
