Research Abstract |
In 2002, we developed an measurement system for collecting a projection image of thermal radiation from a combustion flame by using InGaAs infrared linear array sensor with 256 pixels. Some fundamental experiments using this system have showed that in case of a methane-air mixed flame, the maximum absorption was about 10% at 20mm length of optical path. This shows that absorption of vapor in observation wavelength area of this sensor (maximum sensitivity, wavelength is 2.4um) is suited for our purpose. In 2003, we established a method for calibration of the sensor output by using a blackbody furnace, improved precision of projection data. We also applied the temperature distribution reconfiguration algorithm and obtained absorption and temperature distribution of combustion flame simultaneously. The reconstructed temperature distribution showed a proper result as shape. However, the peak temperature was about 900K which is quite lower than the value measured by thermocouple. Analysis of the cause of the difference is a future problem.
