Research Abstract |
The electrical measurements on a single molecule using the scanning probe microscopes combined with laser excitation were investigated. The techniques using the conductive atomic force microscope and the scanning tunneling microscope could realize the quantitative analysis on the tunnel conduction through a single molecule of self assembled monolayer fabricated on Au(111) as well as the conductive imaging with a molecular resolution. Additionally, the new scanning probe microscopes combined with the laser excitation like the photoconductive atomic force microscope and the laser assisted scanning tunneling microscope were developed to investigate the local probe analysis of the photoelectrical properties on the organic thin films. These new techniques have proven to be valid for studying the local characterization for the electrical and optical properties of organic thin films.
