Research Abstract |
"3D information studio" is the framework that can take charge of the 3-dimensional contents work for new "3D virtual library" including conventional virtual library and museum function. As a subject matter, we take up a digital database of ceramic artworks and handicrafts. We have studied about the essential functions, such as creation, preservation, a classification, and reference. Furthermore, extension to high-speed network is considered. Our study has produced the following results : 1.Development of a 3D contents work supporting function. We develop a 3D modeler that can support creating new 3D forms and animations by applying an Interactive Evolutionary Computation (IEC) framework. Moreover, this modeler provides an input function that attains free molding by handwriting. 2.Development of color image creation supporting function. Color scheme supporting tool is realized by using the new technique that extracts the color information from existing contents and reflects it to users' color images. 3.Construction of the digital database for ceramic potteries. We investigate various aspects of reference when classifying and referring potteries. The Arita ceramic potteries included in the Shibata collection is examined about the form and color information extracted from the photographs. 4.Extension to high-speed networked environment. We examine 3D modeling method by using a high-speed mass network, Toyo-no-Kuni hyper-network in Oita Prefecture. Area IX is also considered in order to solve the problem in network, the packet loss at the time of high load, communication delay, and so on.
