Research Abstract

水中に炭素電極間でアーク放電をおこすことにより,炭素系ナノ材料を安価に大量に合成することができる。例えば,水中でアーク放電を起こすことにより多層カーボンナノチューブが生成し,液体窒素中でアーク放電を起こすと単層ナノホーンが生成する。また,水に浮遊する粒子の中には比較的球状に近い多層フラーレン状ナノ粒子(カーボンナノオニオン)が生成する。本研究ではカーボンナノオニオンの生成速度と反応条件との関係を明らかにし,メカニズムについて仮説を提案した。また,電極に触媒を含有させることにより変更を加えた反応系で生成する単層カーボンナノチューブ,単層カーボンナノホーン,金属内包カーボンナノオニオン,Pt担持カーボンナノ粒子など種々の生成物の発生に関する検討も行った。また,カーボンナノオニオンの応用例として潤滑油に加えて使用する固体潤滑剤としての性能を確認するために潤滑性能試験機を作製し,同反応系で合成した試料の試験を行った。さらに,水や液体窒素のみならず,無機電解質を加えた水,アルコール類や飽和炭化水素類や芳香族などの有機溶媒を液に使用したときの生成物の構造への影響についての検討も行った。
