Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The research topics I was engaged in during the fiscal year were the following:
1) As a continuation of the research from the previous fiscal year, we finalized our work on the photodissociation dynamics of the H_2He+ molecular ion in an intense femtosecond laser pulse, and published our results in a scientific paper. 2) Using the theoretical framework we developed in the last fiscal year, which allows for high accuracy, variational simulations of laser induced rovibrational/alignment dynamics of polyatomic molecules, we investigated the laser-induced alignment dynamics of the H_2He+ and H_2O molecules. We published our research results in a scientific paper. 3) Using Java and Mathematica programming languages, we developed a cross-platform, user-friendly software named “Laser-induced Alignment and Orientation Simulator” (LAOS), which can be used to simulate the light-induced rotational dynamics of molecules within the rigid rotor approximation. To the best of our knowledge, such software is not yet available, and we believe it will be useful for experimental scientists involved in related research. Publication of the program in a scientific journal is in preparation. 4) We started a collaboration with a visiting professor from Bielefeld University, Germany, Prof. Farhad H. M. Faisal, on developing novel theoretical approaches to efficiently simulate strong field ionization in multielectron systems and to investigate the role of electron correlation in the photoionization processes. Our joint work is in progress.
