Outline of Annual Research Achievements

次世代の診断技術である磁気粒子イメージング(Magnetic particle imaging: MPI)に用いる磁性ナノ粒子の最適化を目的とした評価を行った。コア粒径の異なる磁性ナノ粒子の交流磁化測定を行い、各粒子の高調波信号を検出した。水中に粒子を分散させた液中サンプルと寒天により粒子自体の回転を抑制した固定サンプルを作製し、粒子回転の磁化反転に与える影響を観測した。またLangevin関数を用いた理論計算に磁気異方性のパラメータを追加することで、超常磁性粒子における磁気異方性の影響を考察した。コア粒径の大きな粒子においては液中サンプルと固定サンプルの差が大きく、これは磁気異方性の影響が顕著に表れているためと考えられる。従来は磁気異方性の影響が表れないとされていた超常磁性粒子において磁気異方性の影響を見出した。また超常磁性、強磁性をそれぞれ表したLangevin関数とStoner-Wohlfarth理論を用いてMPIに用いる最適な粒子パラメータ解析のための数値計算モデルの作成を行った。さらに磁気スピンの歳差運動を表したLLG (Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert)方程式を適用したモデルによって超常磁性、強磁性の両方に適応可能な磁化反転モデルの作成に着手した。
本研究成果はMPIやがん温熱治療における有効な磁性ナノ粒子の開発に留まらず、磁性ナノ粒子を用いたバイオ・医療のアプリケーションにおいて大きな寄与をもたらすものである。また実測と理論計算を複合させた粒子の磁化反転モデルの作成が必要とされる研究課題であるため、粒子磁化特性の実測に加えて理論計算による磁化反転モデルの開発に着手できたことは重要な成果である。
