Outline of Annual Research Achievements

最終年度も実地調査を進めるとともに、秦律を中心に馬匹生産にかんする記述を整理した。実地調査では、周原遺跡姚家墓地出土馬骨の調査を実施し、西周王朝における馬の飼養管理の実態をより詳細に議論できる素地が出来あがった。本研究課題で確立した、馬歯の同位体化学分析から食性変遷を捉える新手法では、古典籍にみる調教開始時期に、仔馬が自然放牧特有のC3植物主体の食性から、雑穀を代表とするC4植物主体の食性へと変化する実態を明らかにするとともに、そうした飼養管理が西周時代から前漢代にかけて確立していく様相を捉えた。さらに、ストロンチウムと酸素の同位体分析では、仔馬の段階で牧（飼養地）を移動している個体を確認するとともに、その移動時期もまた、食性が変動するタイミングと一致していた。同様の分析は棗陽曾国郭家廟墓地出土馬骨でも実施し、陝西省での分析結果と酷似する個体と、一貫してC3植物を摂取する個体とが混在する興味深い結果となった。古典籍、出土文字資料には、馬の移動や授受についての記述が散見されることから、他地域からの馬の往来も想定された。
秦律の整理では、馬匹生産にかかわる具体的な様相が把握でき、これまで実地調査で得た分析結果と対照させることで、記述内容を実証的に検証した。その結果、戦国時代の秦国では、馬匹生産体制の基盤がほぼ確立していることが明らかとなるとともに、歴史学から予見されていた馬匹生産の様相が、理化学分析の応用も含めた本研究課題によって、具体的に導き出せる段階にまできた。このほか、動物骨の三次元計測データベース「3D Bone Atlas Database」にて、馬のデータを刷新したことで、ほとんどの遺跡出土馬骨に対応できるようになった。
