Outline of Annual Research Achievements

多くの生物において、分布の拡大と分断は、その進化の道筋を解明する上で非常に重要である。とくに海洋は、陸上動物にとって大きな障壁となると考えられており、重要な分断要因の一つである。しかし、カミキリムシのような穿孔性昆虫では、幼虫の入った木材が海流によって運ばれることにより、海洋を超えて分散したと考えられる種が少なからず存在する。本研究では、飛翔能力が欠如しているにも関わらず、台湾から琉球列島の島嶼部を経て日本の沿岸域に広域な分布を示すウスアヤカミキリ属を用いて、海洋を超えた遺伝子流動を検証し、その進化史解明に取り組んだ。
平成28年度は、昨年度に引き続き、台湾から日本の各地で遺伝子解析用サンプルの収集を行い、ミトコンドリアDNA（DNAバーコード領域を含むCOI領域）の塩基配列の決定を行った。さらに、次世代シークエンサーを用いた一塩基多型の検出も行い、これらの遺伝子情報に基づいて集団遺伝学的解析を行った。その結果、台湾から日本にかけて分布するウスアヤカミキリ属では、海洋を超えた遺伝子流動が頻繁に起きており、遺伝子流動は地理的な距離のみならず、黒潮の流れにも強く影響を受けていることが明らかとなった。一方で、これまで7種7亜種に区別されてきた本群は、本結果からいずれも種レベルでは未分化で、すべて同一種にするべきとの結論を得た。これは、ウスアヤカミキリ属においては、海洋は分散障壁とはなっておらず、むしろ海流を利用することによって広域な分布を獲得した一方で、その種分化は、その後も頻繁に起きる遺伝子流動によって妨げられてきたことを示唆する。本研究結果は、黒潮流域における生物の分散、進化、またその起源を考察する上で、興味深い例を提供すると考えられる。
