Research Abstract

本研究課題においては、既存の有機伝導体の光物性測定・磁気物性測定に加えて、光と磁場を用いた有機物質の新しい電子物性測定技術を開発することを目標とした。
前者に関しては、電荷分離、フタロシアニン伝導体の磁気測定等で成果を上げた。特に電導性フタロシアニン塩の研究においては、巨大負磁気抵抗の発見とともに、詳細な磁気トルク測定とその解析を通じて"電荷分離型Ferrimagnetism"という新しい磁気状態を発見するという大きな成果をあげた。研究成果の一部はJPSJ誌でEditer's Choiceに選ばれるとともに、新聞発表されている。
後者に関しては、有機薄膜デバイスを主たる研究対象とした。これは光で電子物性を制御するためには、試料全体に光が透過する薄膜試料の方が、バルク単結晶よりも有利と考えたからである。薄膜試料では大きな電界を試料に印加できる点も利点である。具体的な研究成果としては、i)生体関連物質を用いた電界発光素子の作成、ii)有機薄膜デバイスを用いた極低温・強磁場中の光電流磁場効果の発見、iii)スピンクロスオーバー転移に伴う電界発光消失現象の発見などが上げられる。i)は日本化学会論文賞につながった。またii)は新規な現象であるとともに、有機薄膜デバイスの極低温電子物性という新しい分野を切り開いた成果である。現在その解明を目指した研究を盛んに行っている。iii)は新しい現象であるとともに、特許出願にもつながった。これらの成果は、いずれも従来の分子性伝導体の枠をはみ出した部分での物性探索となっており、今後の研究発展が見込まれる。
