Research Abstract |
The Complex of Hue Monuments that is registered as the first UNESCO World Heritage in Vietnam. We will establish the proper way to restore and preserve it. Then Vietnamese Government takes the lead of the rebuilding plan of the Can Thanh Palace of Nguyen Dynasty that has lost by the war. Therefore we carry out the scientific study of the site in cooperation with Vietnamese Ministry of Culture Information, Thua Thien-Hue people committee and Hue Monuments Conservation Center. The Can Thanh Palace of Nguyen Dynasty is composed by the palace group in Forbidden City and follows the standard of a traditional planning of disposition on the south north main axis line. The French researcher of the colony period doesn't obtain the investigation permission because it was the most important place in the royal palace. So the Vietnam war burnt it down. Therefore the original source of the actual measurement is most important. We continuously the studies since 1994, furthermore do 8 fundamental studies and 5 applied studies. 8 fundamental studies (1) Fundamental data compilation of complex of Hue monuments (2) Studies and database on the decorative carvings of the Nguyen dynastic architecture (3) Comprehension of description on the architecture in the Han Nom document in the Nguyen Dynasty (4) Hearing of traditional technic keeper (5) Comparative studies with Japanese, Korean and Chinese royal city and architecture (6) Early case Study (7) Studies on the way to preserve and reproduce the historical city (8) Studies on the cultural asset protection administration, technology transfer, and international cooperation 5 applied studies (1) Decision of the platform excavation investigation plan (2) Restoration design study (3) Material and construction technology studies (4) Environmental restoration study (5) Drawing up a Master plan
