Research Abstract |
1.Technology on driver identification and driver status monitoring while driving (1)We have developed the fundamental technologies on monitoring driver status (driver's drowsiness, driver's concentration while using a cellular phone, driver's gaze direction) by CCD camera equipped in rear-view mirror. (2)The experimental results by the developed technology suggests that driver's drowsiness level will be able to estimate according to individual differences. (3)The experimental results also suggests that driver's concentration level while using a cellular phone will be able to estimate according to individual differences. (4)The experimental results also suggests that inattention level by driver's gaze direction will be able to estimate according to individual differences. (5)We have developed the basic method on discriminating between older adults and younger by CCD camera equipped in rear-view mirror. (6)We have developed the basic blink detection method for drivers wearing glasses and sungl

asses. These technologies (1)〜(4) will be supplied to many domestic automobile companies and associated companies. There is much prospect of being employed in a few years. 2.Technology on driver assist system and in-vehicle information system (1)It is expected that these technologies will be employed to use as in-vehicle system combined with driver status monitoring technology in a few years. 3.Technology on adaptation to individual differences (1)We have developed the driving simulator equipping the above technologies. (2)Besides that, we have constructed the system which measures driver's visual performances (visual field, dynamic visual acuity and depth perception) during car driving. A year later, we will improve the system which operates at Aichi Driver's License Center through Aichi Prefectural Police. We've presented the above technologies to domestic automobile companies and associated companies (Toyota Motor Corporation, Nissan Motor Co.,Ltd.,Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Daihatsu Motor Co.,Ltd.,Denso Corporation, Aishin Seiki Co., Ltd., Aisin AW Co.,Ltd., Tokai Rika Co.,Ltd., Hitachi, Ltd., NEC Corporation, OMRON Corporation, etc.) at February 22, 2006.
