Research Abstract |
1. The effects of combining a porous poly(L-lactide-co-e-caprolactone)/β-TCP membrane with a bFGF incorporating gelatin sponge on bone regeneration in mandibular ridges of beagles was evaluated. The results suggested that this technique will be applicable for alveolar ridge reconstruction. 2. Compactin and Pitavastatin increased activity of alkaline phosphatase of MC3T3-E1 cells (osteoblast-like cells) and enhanced these calcification. Therefore, Pitavastatin evoked apotosis of Raw cells ( macrophage-like cells) and inhibited differentiation to osteoclasts. Combination of bFGF and 17β-estradiol to the osteogenic medium promoted differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cells without decrease of cell proliferation. 3. β-estoradiol incorporated PLGA and hPTH incorporated PLGA showed tendency to increase alveolar ridge post extraction. BMP-2 incorporated gelatin containing β-TCP showed remarkable bone regeneration in defects of the calvaria and the mandibular ramus. 4.Combination of PRP or bFGF incorporated gelatin with particulate cancellous bone and marrow showed tendency to promote bone regeneration in the mandibular marginal resection of beagles. However, there is no significant difference between those and control. An additional experiment is needed. 5.Complex of rat bone marrow stromal cells and hydroxyapatite coated PGA/collagen sponge showed more bone formation in the subcutaneous implants than control. 6. bFGF incorporated gelatin was applied to 11 patients with periodontal disease or atrophy of the alveolar ridge for dental implant. The results showed no harmful events and good outcome.
