Research Abstract |
Chemotherapy is frequently used as a treatment for malignant tumors. However, the usage of this method is still limited and cannot be applied to all types of malignant tumors. The object of this experiment was to evaluate the effects of magnetic field to tumors and the change in sensitivity of malignancies. The bioeffects of magnetic energy to tissue and enhancing the sensitivity may be crucial for future development of therapeutic devices. Various energy sources were evaluated to cancer cell line (HeLa cells). Specially developed culture cases which has a thin film which magnetic fields or electrical energy can penetrate were used in the basic experimental set up. Also, in order to rule out the possibility the effects of temperature increase and mechanical stress such as ultrasound energy was modified into the experiments. The results showed that there was slight increase of proliferation of tumor cells by magnetic field but most of the effects were due to temperature increase or mechanical stress. Strong electrical or magnetic force were produce with a modified version of the Tesla Coil. These energy proved to be enhance the sensitivity of chemotherapy but would not be specified where it was due to totally on magnetic energy or by-produce of temperature increase.
