Research Abstract |
A RESEARCH THEME OF THIS PROJECT HAS USUALLY BEEN DEALT IN THE METEOROLOGY OR THE RIVER ENGINEERING SEPARATELY. HOWEVER METEOROLOGISTS HAVE CONCENTRATED THEIR ATTENTIONS ON MECHANISMS OF RAINFALL EVENTS ; ON THE OTHER HAND, RIVER ENGINEERS HAS BEEN INTERESTED ONLY IN INTENSITIES OR AMOUNTS OF RAINFALLS WITHOUT PAYNG ATTENTION TO RAINFALL PATTERN OR MECHANISM. THERE IS THE ORIGINALITY OF THIS STUDY IN THE POINT IN WHICH A METEOROLOGIST AND A RIVER ENGINEER COOPERATED TO TRY TO INPUT THE RECENT KNOWLEDGE ABOUT MECHANISMS OR PATTERNS OF RAINFALL EVENTS INTO FLOOD CONTROL PLANNING METHODS. IN THIS STUDY, WE ANALYZED METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATIONAL DATA TO UNDERSTAND RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RECENT URBAN AREA WARMING (OR URBAN HEAT ISLAND) AND CHANGE OF RAINFALL PATTERNS ; AND CARRIED OUT NUMERICAL SIMULATION TO PREDICT EFFECTS OF WEATHER CONDITION ON RAINFALL PATTERNS. THE STUDY AREA IN THE STUDY IS OSAKA URBAN AREA. WE ALSO INVESTICATED VARIABILITY, COMPLEXITY AND CHANGEABILITY OF RAINFALL EVENTS BY THE NUMERICAL SIMULATION.
