Research Abstract |
The main purpose of this report is to present research on the theory of home economics curriculum, focusing on the fundamental and sustainable theme of modern living, such as welfare, environment, family, gender, life and death, career, and so on. The other purpose is to develop model lessons on the basis of this new theoretical framework, put them into practice, and evaluate them. The results and effects are as follows ; 1.Constructed a theoretical framework for the home economics curriculum which enables students to learn about contemporary issues comprehensively (Arai & all members). To put it concretely, created "a Matrix of learning" which organizes the content area, the learning objectives and study topics, and "the Lesson Structure Planning Graph", which assists teachers in making student-centered learning. 2.Reorganized the contemporary living issues and examined the cross-curricular elements about this theme on the basis of the above theoretical framework. In addition, developed the model lessons, put them into practice, and analyzed the reaction of students. Team member responsibility was in part as follows ; Issues on welfare and gender : Arai, N. Issues on nursing and families : Watahiki, T. Issues on life and death education : Tokumaru, S. Issues on energy and environment : Matuoka, E. Issues on housing and town planning : Kamikawa, Y. Issues on career education : Suzuki, M. 3.Investigated on home economics curricula in the U.S. and in the Nordic Countries, focusing on new educational revisions and lesson practice on the contemporary issues above. The analysis of the documents and curriculums are now under taken.
