Outline of Final Research Achievements

The burden of childcare will reduce by knowing what kind of stimulus babies stop crying objectively. In this study, first, it was clarified experimentally and scientifically whether babies stopped crying with swinging stimulus and sound stimulus. Then, an electric swinging crib was designed to calm crying babies by giving them comfortable swinging stimuli based on experimental results. As rice cookers and refrigerators once helped to reduce the burden of housework, the results of this study are considered to contribute to the creation of childcare innovation.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

学術的意義は、赤ちゃんが快適に感じる揺れや音の刺激に関し、月齢別に効果の程度を赤ちゃんの生理評価により明らかにした点にある。また、デザイン対象の赤ちゃん製品の評価に関し、従来の主観的な評価方法に加えて生理値により客観的に評価する方法を示した点にも意義がある。
本研究で示した科学的データは育児負担の軽減に役立つ製品開発の基礎データとなる。よって、本研究成果は少子化社会対策に寄与する点において社会的意義がある。
