Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Based on the lessons learned from the 1995 Kobe earthquake, we performed scenario-type seismic hazard assessment by empirical, kinematic, pseudo-dynamic, and dynamic source modeling to validate the quantitative relationship between source variability and simulated ground motion variability. Our study indicates that physics-based dynamic rupture modeling have an enough potential to simulate extreme ground motions over the classical empirical approach.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
東日本大震災以降、在り方が論じられてきた地震ハザード評価について、従来の枠組みにとらわれず、想定外の地震動を震源の物理に基づいてシミュレーションする手法を研究した。その結果、従来よりも多様な地震動が計算されるものの、これらの震源の物理やパラメータの拘束に関する研究がより一層重要であることが分かった。また、オープンデータを意識して、国際的な計算プラットフォームに解析手法を実装することに成功した。
