| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
(1) "Bujutsu-sei" (practicality in battle) as the true meaning of bujutsu/ budo lies in the power of survival that comes from the animal nature of human beings before it is connected to the evaluation of violence.
(2) Kenjutsu/Kendo has practical knowledge that can be applied flexibly to each of its historical characteristics (actual combat, art, and competition). In Jiu-Jitsu/Judo, the idea that Jigoro Kano sought was the emergence of a new style of martial arts that integrated Jiu-Jitsu and Kenjitsu, and the cultural development of Jiu-Jitsu/Judo with martial arts characteristics.
(3) Chinese martial arts were established as competitive martial arts under the influence of Western culture after the modern era, and with the internationalization of Chinese martial arts, "Bujutsu-sei" of Chinese martial arts has decreased and the emphasis has been on competition and entertainment. The same can be said for Taekwondo, a Korean martial art that was created after the war.

本研究は、東アジアを代表する、日本武道、中国武術そして韓国武芸に通底する基底的要素である＜戦いで実用的な技術＞を、「武術性」という用語に要約して、比較しながらそれぞれ歴史的・思想的に考察したものである。このことは、これまで武術あるいは武道といいながら、それがスポーツなのか戦闘の技術なのかについて曖昧にして議論してきた研究風土に、比較の軸を示して、それによって世界中の武術や格闘技を考える視点を示した点で、大きな学術的意義がある。また武術の原意が暴力性になく、人間が生き抜く生存力にあることを示し、それらの成果を図書の形で広く江湖に紹介した点は、人類史上の意義を江湖に認知させる社会的意義がある。
