| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Toward realization of quantum network at the telecommunications wavelength, we have studied quantum materials for Er doping. We have clarified that isotopical purification of not only in dopants, but also in host materials temselves is essential for achieving long life times of Er luminescence. We believe that the inovative knowledge is important for the realization of quantum networks using Er quantum bits.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
情報通信社会に変革をもたらす長距離量子情報通信を実現するためには、量子情報を中継する中継器の開発が急務である。我々は、通信波長帯の光を用いて量子中継器を開発することを目的として、通信波長帯の光と相互作用する希土類イオンの一種である３価のエルビウムイオンに着目し、このエルビウムイオンが添加された良質な単結晶を作製すること、エルビウムイオンの量子光学応用に適したホスト結晶の材料探索を行った。
