Outline of Final Research Achievements |
First, we created a database of administrative information citizens requested through the disclosure system and made it comparable across local governments. Second, we developed the world’s first video retrieval system for parliamentary deliberations by utilizing the latest sound recognition techniques. Using our video retrieval system, we can pinpoint and partially play the moment of interest by keyword search. Departing from the academic tradition of focusing on text information, we analyzed sound and visual information using the Diet videos and shed new lights on the dimension of parliamentary deliberations that does not remain in the minutes. Lastly, by making these databases open to the public as academic and social assets and enabling automatic translation of English inputs, we contributed to improving the international accessibility of policy information in Japan.
