Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The research included the development of a novel way to evaluate missed thrust for electric propelled trajectory design.Missed thrust evaluation relates to the space mission design, it is an essential part of the trajectory robustness.The research also include an expansion of the research developed in the first year. The first year research successful developed a method to find midcourse space mission targets in a fast an accurate fashion. This method was expanded this year to include the search of primary asteroid mission targets for space missions with limited propellant.Most notably the missed thrust evaluation research was directly applied to the NASA Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission.The primary asteroid target search was directly applied to the Hayavusa 2 extension proposal to JAXA.
