Outline of Annual Research Achievements

今年度は、①他の半導体材料と接合することで誘起される酸化タングステンナノシートの電子状態の変化についての基礎的な研究と、②金属もしくは半導体電極表面で起こる水の酸化/還元反応に対して外部からマイクロ波を照射した際に起こる反応速度の変化とその起源を突き止める研究を遂行した。
①の研究を遂行した理由は、昨年度までの研究において、ヘテロ積層させたナノシート光触媒の固固界面で複雑な電子的相互作用が起こり、独立のナノシートとは異なる挙動を示すことが明らかとなったためである。この挙動を理解するために、単結晶Si基板上に酸化タングステンナノシートのヘテロ接合構造を作製し、X線/電子線分光法を駆使して電子状態を明らかにした。ここで、ヘテロ接合界面でのSi基板から酸化タングステンへの電子流入によるW 5d軌道への電子充填を明らかにした。この発見は、光触媒を決定するナノ構造体の電子構造の本質的な理解につながる重要な成果であるといえる。
②の研究を通して、本研究課題の目標である人工光合成反応に対するマイクロ波効果に関する研究も独立に遂行した。Pt電極上での水の還元反応がマイクロ波照射によって促進される現象は、電極近傍で誘起される局所高温場によってすべて理解できた。一方、α-Fe2O3表面での水の酸化反応がマイクロ波によって促進される現象は、温度とは独立したマイクロ波による特殊な効果であることを突き止めた。以前までに明らかにしてきたCdS量子ドットによるビピリジン誘導体の光還元反応に対するマイクロ波特殊効果の結果を踏まえて総合的に考察することで、マイクロ波による電子移動反応促進の起源が、固体表面の欠陥準位に存在する電子とマイクロ波との相互作用によるものであることを提案した。
