We traced the cultural exchanges between Jean-Paul Sartre and Italian intellectuals and writers in the 1950s and 1960s by analyzing the texts by Sartre and the Italian writers and philosophers as well as periodical documents of the time. Specifically, we were interested in : 1) the determination of dates and identification of places Sartre's Italian visits and their reflection in literary texts ("Tintoretto", for exemple); 2)Relationship with certain writers (E. Vittorini, C. Levi); and 3) his theoretical and practical collaboration with Italian Marxist thinkers (M. Alicata, E. Paci).
