Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study has two purposes. 1) The first is to consider aspectual synonymous forms of Russian participle and converb and in literary texts from the point of view of “foreground vs. background” (which concerns e.g. the position of the direct speech construction) and to elucidate their typological significance. We propose the parameter which concerns with foreground (the direct speech construction) and consider a solecism of Russian participle and converb from the point of view of semantic transitivity, in revealing its typological novelty. 2) The second is to consider the functional differences between the Russian perfective - imperfective verbs and converbs from a diachronic point of view. We investigate them in terms of the parameters of “foreground vs. background” (which concerns e.g. the position of the direct speech construction).
