| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research focuses on Emperor Hirohito and his court during and after the Second World War. It clarifies their views of the terms and time frame of the surrender, as well as their perceived prospects for the postwar order. During the term of the grant, I collected historical materials from several archives overseas. I also collated the complicated sequence of events described in Showa Tenno Jitsuroku into a readily comprehensible calendar format.
