Research Abstract

The role of the visual-impairent coordinating group is to make organic cooperation among the scheduled research groups to promote each research as a result This role can be divided into five specific sub-roles below and concrete actions follow them.
1. Common understanding about visual impairment in general.
*Holding a lecture on national statistics on persons and children with visual impairments.
*Holding a lecture on today's education for children with visual impairments.
*Holding a lecture on special needs of persons with visual impairments.
*Holding a lecture on assistive technologies for persons with visual impairments.
*Holding a seminar on reading speeds of persons with visual impairments in different modalities.
2. Common understanding about cognitive psychology.
*Holding lectures by experts of cognitive science.
*Holding a seminar on how to write papers from the viewpoint of cognitive science.
3. Common understanding about each research members' area of expertise.
*Holding a lightening talk session on each member's expertise.
4. Sharing of problems in doing research on assistive technologies for persons with visual impairments.
*Survey of experiments with persons with visual impairments as subjects.
5. Domestic and global dissemination of research results.
*Organizing special sessions at ICCHP (International Conference on Computers Helping People with Special Needs) and making presentations in the sessions.
*Organizing a special session at IEEE EMBC (28th Annual International Conference IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society) and making presentation in the session.
*Co-organizing seminars with dometic related academic societies.
