Research Abstract |
This study is on teaching materials, methodology and administrative supporting system for JSL students. Since 2002, Kawakami has developed a set of JSL Bandscales. Through the research, the JSL Bandscaless are hind to be indispensable for Japanese teaching of JSL students because the JSL Bandsales provide detailed descriptions on the acquisition of Japanese language of JSL students with teachers so that teachers can understand the stages of Japanese language development and predict the process of language development in the future. Furthermore, based on such information, teachers can better design lessons with appropriate scaffolding. This project of developing the JSL Bandscales suggests that the JSL Banciaoales are useful and indispensable to make language policies for those children who need special assistance of learning Japanese language in terms of administrative supporting system. New administrative projects which use the JSL Bandscales for teaching Japanese language to JSL students based on cooperative agreement between Meguro Ward, Suzuka city in Mie prefecture and Waseda University start in 2008. This is one of the outcomes from this research project.
