Research Abstract |
One of the main activities of The Research Group of the "Legal Literature in Early Modern Russia " was to put the Russian text of Ulozhenie (The law Code of 1649) into Japanese. The group met once a month, discussed over the texts and completed the translation of almost half of the whole text. The results were published in three parts up to now. The work is going to be continued. Another activity of the research group was to hold a residential study meeting once a year, where each participant read a paper on the Ulozhenie and other themes. The result is a Collection of papers published march 2007 in Sapporo, including 15 contributions on various themes from "legal changes and society in mediaeval and early modern Russia." Besides that members of the group has published for the year 2004-2006 four books and thirty articles in all.
