Research Abstract |
We first of all examined the concept the Third Age and discussed life tasks in the Third Age in an aging and population decreasing society with small number of children. In next chapter, conceptual consideration of lifestyles was discussed from several view points, sociological, psychological, marketing and so on. In chapter three, various scales for measuring lifestyles, e.g. AIO, LOV, RVS, VALS etc., and also some approaches to lifestyles studies, e.g. social trend approach, post-structuralism, global mosaic were discussed. In final chapter, many existing researches in various fields on lifestyles of the elderly, e.g. health and physical ability and lifestyles, urban life and lifestyles, QOL and lifestyles, care and lifestyles, consumption behavior and lifestyles, were reviewed for studying lifestyles of the Third Agers. Finally, research tasks of lifestyles of the Third Agers were discussed from viewpoints of life-span development and also relationship between lifestyles and adaptation forms, adaptation behavior and role behavior, lifestyles and demand/purpose were discussed and then, analytical framework with scenario analysis was proposed.
