We have been collecting human surgical lung specimen and lung tissues from animal model of COPD/emphysema. From the evaluation of morphological analysis, mechanical properties, and inflammation, we have shown the mechanism for the deterioration of COPD. Our prospective clinical study also showed the new associating factor, GERD, for the COPD exacerbation.
