Research Abstract |
My research results are classified into three groups : 1. representation of women in William Faulkner's Novels, 2. women in American Southern writers, and 3. Toni Morrison's novels and Louise Erdrich's novels. As to 1. representation of women in Faulkner's novels, I discussed Temple Drake and Nancy Mannigoe in Requiem for a Nun at the International Faulkner Symposium, and edited a book, History and Memory in Faulkner's Novels. In addition, my paper on Eunice Habersham was compiled into a book of essays on Intruder in the Dust, published in Philadelphia, USA. As to 2. women in American Southern writers, I was invited to write an essay on Shirley Ann Grau and Ellen Douglas for The Rising Generation, and invited to the International O'Connor Symposium at the Universite de Rennes, France, in February of 2005. Unfortunately the paper is now still in the process of printing. As to 3. Toni Morrison's novels and Louise Erdrich's novels, I wrote three essays, one on the mixed blood characters, the second one on Erdrich's Turtle Mountain Chronicle, and third one on Morrison's Beloved.
