Research Abstract |
The philosophical principles of Bojuyi's xian shi literature are derived not only from Rujia'concept of self-righteousness but- more strongly- from the Laozhuang'concept of self-sufficiency. The present study deals with the vast amount of xian shi shi works that depict the cause and effect elements observed in the human living and lives-particularly reflected in the areas of clothing, housing, eating, and general human conduct. This author strove to analyze the thoughts and philosophies of the xian shi poetry and shed new light on the image of Bojuyi as a leading poet of the pertinent era. This study further probed into the issue of how Bojuyi's works and philosophies were related to his own life and the general trends in those days. Efforts were also made to present a new image of Bojuyi and to describe the overall structure of Zhong tang literature. In the academic year of 2004, I endeavored to complete the ultimate edition of my interpretations of Bojuyi'xianshi wenxue texts and, at the same time, lay a solid foundation for future Tangdai xianshi literature studies. The primary goal of my study during the above period was to combine my past papers in a systematic way and further improve it by adding greater details while building up, simultaneously, on the earlier research scholars' findings. The original main targets that I set up included such issues as human body and posture and aging and illness. However, during the period between 2004 and 2005, I shifted my focus onto the analysis of housing and family and tried to deepen my understanding of this issue. I believe that the series of studies have generated evidence for the view that Bojuyi and the time-space concepts observed in the xian shi literature are mutually related in the topos areas of houses, families, gardens, and temples.
