Research Abstract |
Cormorant fishing(Ukai) is a fishing method with some domestic fowl. This method effect at China, Japan, Southeast Asia and India. Commonly it's just the same with our cormorant fishing. But, Chinese cormorant does not fish for an ayu. Japanese cormorant fishing is popular only in the summertime. But Chinese cormorant is at its peak in winter. An ayu swims down a river to spawn. After half year, there was no sign of fish inhabit, in a large river. It is important that fisherman have any good ideas to keep his cormorant during the winter months. it would not to keep cormorants without some method, in Japan, In that respect Japanese cormorant fishing and Chinese cormorant fishing differ. On investigation it was found out of three methods, from this point of view. In the first place, fisherman turn his cormorant on the sea(Houchou). In the second place, fisherman leave his cormorant to the seaside(Satogo). In the third place, fisherman wander to riverside with his cormorant(Egai). It was confirmed that cormorant fishing is skillful fishing combined two animal behavior.
