Research Abstract |
In rolling guides, ball passage vibrations (bearing block posture changes with ball passage period) have become a problem. In the previous studies by other researchers, calculating methods and reduction methods of ball passage vibrations for a rolling guide and a table supported by rolling guides have been studied. Although it was presumed that ball passage vibrations are affected by ball groupings, the effects of ball groupings on ball passage vibrations have not been examined in detail. In this study, the effects of ball groupings on the pitching and yawing ball passage vibrations under low speed operation were studied experimentally and analytically. In the experiment, the pitching and yawing ball passage vibrations on three kinds of ball groupings are measured by laser autocollimator. The conclusions were obtained as follows: (1) The measurement results showed that the occurrence of the pitching and yawing ball passage vibrations were affected by ball groupings. (2) The linear velocity range (V =3.3×10^<-5>-5×10^<-4>m/s) in the experiment, the measured rms values of the pitching and yawing ball passage vibrations were not affected significantly by the linear velocity V. (3) A calculation method of ball passage vibrations of rolling guides with a certain ball grouping was presented. (4) The calculated results (on the occurrence of vibrations, time wave forms, rms values) by the presented method almost matched the measured results. (5) In the ball grouping in which balls in each row are not shifted, the calculated amplitude of ball passage vibrations is zero.
