Research Abstract |
THIS STUDY AIMED TO DEVELOP THE NEW GAS SENSING SYSTEM FOR SIMULTANEOUS GAS SENSING TECHNIQUE (THERMAL ANALYSIS METHOD, TG-DTA AND EVOLVED GAS ANALYSIS METHOD, EGA) WITH CORROSION PROTECTION AGAINST THE MEASURING CODITION. IN 2004,SEVERAL ELECTRO SERAMIC SENSORS WERE STUDIED USING ALUMINUM, TANTALUM AND ZIRCONIUM MATERIALS. IT WAS POSSIBL TO PREPARE THE FUNCTIONAL MATERIAL THIN FILMS DIRECTRY FROM THE SOLUTION BY HYDROTHERMAL-ELECTROCHEMICAL METHOD. THIS METHOD REQUIRED ONLY SIMPLE EQUIPMENT AND COSUMED LESS ENERGY AND COST. SO, POTASSIUM TANTALUM OXIDE THIN FILMS SYNTHESIZED ON THE TANTALUM WIRE IN THE CONCENTRATED KOH SOLUTION SEEMED TO BE FLAT AND CRYSTALLINE. THIS FILM SHOWED AN INCREASE IN ELECTROSTATIC CAPACITY WHEN BROUGHT INTO CONTACT WITH MOIST GAS. THE CAPACITANCE INCREASE VERSUS THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF THE SENSOR WAS LINEAR AND SHOWED GOOD SENSITIVITY IN LOWER HUMIDITY ATMOSPHERE. THEN, THIS SENSOR WAS SUCCESSFULLY ATTEMPED TO APPLY TO THE THERMAL ANALYSIS APPARATUS WHICH WA

S COMBINED WITH THERMOGRAVIMETRY(TG) AND EVOLVED GAS THERMAL ANALYSIS(EGA). IN 2005,THE RESEARCH TO CLARIFY THE REDUCTION PROCESS KINETICS OF FERROCHROME MANUFACTURING WITH ALUMINUM POWDER, WAS ATTEMPTED IN ORDER TO REDUCE THE CARBON DIOXIDE EMISSION IN THE FERROALLOY INDUSTRY. IN THIS RESEARCH, SIMULTANEOUS TG-DTA AND GAS SENSING TECHNIQUE WAS USED. SAMPLES QUENCHED AT SEVERAL CHOSEN CODITIONS WERE IDENTIFIED BY MEANS OF EPMA AND XRD. THREE REACTION PEAKS WERE OBSERVED ON THE DTA CURVE CORESPONDING TO, 1)THE ENDOTHERMIC REACTION FOR MELTING OF ALUMINUM, 2)ALUMINOTHERMIC REDUCTION PROCESS OF CHROMITE AND 3)HEAT CHANGE FOR REOXIDATION OF FERROCHROM. THE ANALYSIS OF THE PRODUCT INDICATED THE PRESENCE OF Fe-Cr,AL_2O_3,Cr_2O_3 AND Fe_2O_3 PHASES, RESPECTIVERY. THE APPLICATION OF ALUMINOTHERMIC REDUCTION TECHNIQUE TO THE FERROALLOY MAKING PROCESS AS WELL AS THE CERAMICS PROCESSING, WILL CONTRIBUTE TOWARD REDUCING THE EMISSION OF CARBON DIOXIDE AND THE OTHER POISONOUS GASES, BECOMING AWORLD-WIDE PROBLEM. THE RESULTS OBTAINED IN THIS RESEARCH WERE PRESENTED WIDLY AT THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES IN 2004 AND 2005. Less
