Research Abstract |
CuInSe_2 and its related thin films (CIS thin films) have attracted considerable attention for photovoltaic energy application. Solar cell has an advantage for energy production in cosmic space. However, very few reports have been published for reliability of CIS based solar cells at the severe situation. In this study, CIS thin film based solar cells were prepared and examined crystallographic stability before and after the irradiation of synchrotron beam. In the first year we have prepared CIS thin films by the ArF excimer laser ablation method. Structural and optical properties of the thin films were investigated. We have fabricated CIS based solar cell modules by depositing other layers (CdS,ZnO,etc.), but the samples did not show good photovoltaic properties. In the next year we have tried to get samples of CIS based thin film solar cell module with good quality but unfortunately we could not do that due to the difficulty of controlling the interfaces between layers. Thus we could not examine the influence for synchrotron irradiation on the photovoltaic properties of CIS based thin film solar cells at SPring-8.
