Research Abstract |
5-aminorevulinic acid was administered topically to the tongue of rabbit. Even when medicine was washed away about 10 minutes after topical application, protoporfirin IX accumulated to almost same degree with conventional application methods. Fluorescence micrography to evaluate drug localization revealed that protoporfirin accumulate mucosal basal layer. The result suggest that 5-aminorevulinic acid mediated photodynamic therapy will be efficient therapy for oral leukoplakia.
