| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Interdisciplinarily have we been reexamining the new matters and conflicts that has arisen after “mnemological turn”: (1) A lot of individual cases that had been ignored until then were thematized, like memories of the earthquake disaster and the so-called “human bone troubles by anthropologists." And (2) by having made an in-depth analysis into the emotional dimension of history, we clarified social phenomena outside of academic research and considered the characteristics of various historical expressions including subcultures which are expressing a swing toward an anti-intellectualism. Furthermore, (3) we have examined conflicts between different victim consciousnesses that often erupt as so called victimhood nationalism, and in order to overcome such a bottleneck we have, even still tentatively, arrived at the new approach of "multidirectional memory."

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本事業は、とくにポスト冷戦期の「記憶」に関するさまざまな論争について、切り開かれた認識の地平と残された課題を総括する役割を担った。諸論争を回顧した場合、実証的な蓄積が顕著に進んだ例が数多くある一方で、学術的な認識とは背反する内容が情動的に拡散するような事態も少なからず生まれた。そうした複雑な現象について、たんに所与の言説を批判的に検討するだけではなく、過去の批判的語り方それ自体や、「犠牲者意識ナショナリズム」などの現象にも学際的な検討を加えた。これによって本研究は、記憶論争が作り出してきた蓄積を、学術的な活動に限定されない文化表現まで視野に入れつつ、確実に次の世代に手渡すことに貢献した。
