| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research attempted at enlarging the possibilities of literary studies through the following investigations: renewing the studies in world literature, incorporating the latest achievements in the fiction studies into literary studies, and creating the scene of good interaction between writers, critics, and scholars.
The researchers belonging to our research group criticised the anglocentric concept of world literature, tried to apply the latest studies in anthropology and artificial intelligence to literary studies, reconsidered the essence of literature from the viewpoint of the recent fiction studies, and exchanged information with writers and scholars in and outside Japan. By so doing, they enabled their academic achievements to be applicable to the real scene of literary creation.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
世界文学研究とフィクション論は、これまで同時に研究されることがほとんどなかった。本研究は、最新のフィクション論を応用することで、情報化の進展の中で変容する現実のあり方に対応し、同時に国民文学から世界文学へと変化する文学の現状をも反映した文学研究を実践した。その結果、いま世界で生じているナショナリズムへの回帰現象を批判するために世界文学研究が有効であることが判明した。また、最新の文化人類学とAI研究の視点が、18世紀以降の近代文学を読み直すために有用であることも証明した。
こうした成果、および成果を国内外の文学者・研究者と広くシェアしたことで、本研究は現代の文学（研究）の活性化に貢献した。
