| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The majority of the area contaminated by the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident is covered with forests. The radiocesium deposited on forests migrates within the forest ecosystems. In this study, we collated data about radiocesium dynamics in forests and constructed a database. Also, we developed and parameterized two radionuclide models for forest ecosystems (RIFE1 and FoRothCs) and predicted the future dynamics of radiocesium within forests. We further combined the temporal simulation with spatial datasets and built a prediction map for wood contamination.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
福島第一原子力発電所事故以降、研究機関や行政機関により森林内の放射性セシウムの動きに関わるデータがたくさん取られてきましたが、それらはばらばらに報告されておりまとまっていません。そこで、本研究では様々な学術雑誌や報告書に報告されたデータを収集し、一つのファイルに入力してデータベースを構築しました。またそのデータとモデルを用いて、森林の中の放射性セシウムの動きを予測（シミュレーション）しました。そのマップ化も行いました。この研究は森林の放射性セシウムの動きに関する包括的理解と予測を提供するもので、被災地域のこれまでの、そしてこれからの森林管理を考える上で大変有用な情報となります。
