Outline of Annual Research Achievements

・試料分析とデータ解析（平成30年4月-6月）
平成28年12月から平成30年2月にかけて南極湖沼で採取した湖水試料および湖底生物群集試料を国内に持ち帰った。これらの試料について、元素分析計（スミグラフNCH-22）で炭素・窒素・リン濃度の分析、HPLC（Shimadzu社）で植物色素の分析、湖水・間隙水試料は栄養塩オートアナライザー（Bran +Luebbe社製）を用いて溶存無機栄養塩（リン酸・アンモニウム・硝酸・亜硝酸・ケイ酸）の分析、TOC分析計（Sievers 500）を用いて全有機炭素・溶存有機炭素の分析、蛍光分光光度計（FluoroMax-4、堀場製作所）を用いた分析による溶存有機物の詳細解析、次世代シーケンサー（MiSeq）で一次生産者（シアノバクテリア・藻類）と分解者（菌類・バクテリア）の遺伝子解析を実施した。また、UC Davis安定同位体分析サービスに炭素・窒素の安定同位体比の分析を依頼した。
・カナダ高緯度北極調査（平成30年7月-8月）
北緯83度にあるワードハント島でカナダと共同で野外調査を行った。湖内の湖沼学的パラメーターの鉛直分布を測定し、湖底から深度毎に生物群集試料を採取した。また、平成28年7月にワードハント湖に設置した係留システムを回収し、2年分の水中環境データ（クロロフィル、溶存酸素、光、水温）の取得に成功した。カナダチームが長年取得しているこのエリアの気象・湖氷データと合わせてデータ解析し、水中環境と植物プランクトンの動態を明らかにし、国際誌に論文として投稿した。

現場および分析により得られた情報を統合することにより、エリア毎の一次生産者の環境応答と系内の生物多様性および物質循環プロセス、および、過去の環境変動パターンの違いから湖沼生態系の遷移プロセスとの関係について解析を開始した。

Reason

本研究で目的としているのは、極域の湖沼生態系における水中環境変動と物質循環・生物多様性という観点から生態系遷移プロセスを解明することである。極域
の広範囲にわたる湖沼生態系を調べるために、「高緯度北極における湖沼調査」を当初計画通りに実施できた上に、1年半かけて大陸性南極で採取した試料を国内に持ち帰り、分析を順調に進めている。また、高緯度北極に2年間設置した水中環境をモニタリングする係留システムを回収し2年間の連続的な環境データを取得できたため、本研究は概ね順調に進展している。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

【試料分析と総合解析】
得られた情報を統合することにより、エリア毎の一次生産者の環境応答と系内の生物多様性および物質循環プロセス、および、過去の環境変動パターンの違いから湖沼生態系の遷移プロセスとの関係を明らかにする。また、申請者らによって連続観測されている昭和基地周辺の湖沼・陸上環境データ、SETI Institute・Andersen博士によって蓄積されているアンターセー湖の環境データ、スペイン水文学研究センター・Toro博士らによって蓄積されている海洋性南極湖沼の環境データ、国立極地研究所・Laval大学によって蓄積されている北極湖沼の環境データを用いて、水温・気温、クロロフィル量、光量の長期変動を調べる。ここ10-20年で極域の陸上環境および湖沼環境がどう変動したかを示し、それによって極域湖沼生態系がどのような影響を受けたかを評価する。さらに、湖沼生態系の物理環境・生物多様性・一次生産が将来どのように変化するかを予測する。これらの結果は論文にまとめ、国際科学誌からの出版を目指す。
