Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In this fiscal year, three main results have been made on this project. First, we have been computed the computational model which allows estimating the perceived softness of a touched object from the visual effect based on the result from the previous report. Second, we have implemented the prototype system to demonstrate the potential applications such as the simulation of softness perception on the prototype furniture (e.g., softness transfer, and softness adjustment). Finally, we have conducted an experiment with the prototype system to confirm the accuracy of the proposed computational model. In addition, the researcher also proof that the result is well enough to compare to the just noticeable of the softness perception. We willing submit the result of this study in the major journal paper such as IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics by the end of this month.
