Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Two modulation methods were examined as a reproduction method of a parametric loudspeaker. As a result of comparing the superiority and inferiority of both distortions, it was judged that the single sideband amplitude modulation method was suitable. First, we built a single-channel reproduction system with parametric loudspeaker, and then built a two-channel reproduction system. When one parametric loudspeaker was placed in front of one of the ears, the sound could be heard from about 12 degrees outward. Next, when two-channel stereo reproduction was performed with two parametric loudspeakers, the sound could be heard from about 6 degrees outside of the arranged loudspeaker. It was clarified physically that the phenomenon that could not occur with the conventional loudspeakers was due to the sharper directional characteristics of the parametric loudspeaker than the conventional loudspeaker.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
パラメトリックスピーカを用いた1ch再生と2ch再生において、聴取試験によって通常のスピーカでは考えられなかった新たな現象を明らかにした。そしてその特有な聴覚現象の原因を物理的に検討した。従来から示唆されていた広範な応用の可能性も確認できた。 研究で得られた成果は、高臨場感が効果的な多くのパーソナルな利用環境(難聴老人・入院患者の個別情報通知、緊急時の自動車内の乗員への個別情報通知、パソコン使用者への指示、等)で応用され、現代社会における音に関する様々なニーズに対して役立つことが期待できる。
