| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In the context of information design history, this study focused on the catalog design that graphic designer L. Sutnar and architectural theorist K. Lonberg-Holm co-produced from after end of the 1930s onwards. I examined the context, the design theory and design language. As a context of activities, the relationship with Otto Neurath was explored, and the commonality was confirmed for the purpose of encyclopedic information accumulation for social and economic fields and its educational use.
In terms of design theory, focussing on the concept of ‘flow’, I discussed its development and the scope of extension, and argued how flexible and productive the concept was, citing various meaning including energy flow, information flow, mental flow, visual flow, flow of production process etc.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
デザイン分野の基礎を確立するために、グラフィックデザインのなかでも、特に現代においてますます必要とされる情報デザインというデザイン領域の理論とデザインを歴史的な視点から深めてゆくことが重要な課題と考えている。本研究は、そのひとつの試みであり、ラディスラフ・ストナー、ヌッド・レンバーグ＝ホルムというその重要性に比較してあまりに知られていないデザイナー、建築家のデザイン実践、デザイン理論をあきらかにした点で、学術的な意義がある。特に「フロー」概念のアクチュアリティについては今後も継続して研究する意義が見いだせた。
